Help!!!!!!

Someone please!! I own a 95 Golf Gl with a 2.0L, that won't start!!! It's not the coil, ecu, any of the fuses on the fuse block, or the little box below the coolant resovair (sp?). It tries to turn over but just doesn't get the humph it needs. I've seen alot on here about the alarm and have tried the key in the door and starting no luck. I did though put in a aftermarket stereo which was stolen out (noticed starting problems after the stolen radio). It did start and run prior to that. I have tried everything I could think of. Also the little sensor on the radiator the connector to it was cracked so I spliced a new one in and it sparked on the body. Could that be the cause of my no start golf and if so what would I have to do to fix this problem? Someone please help me.

The engine is turning with the starter motor at an acceptable speed, but the engine doesn't fire, correct? Dou have spark at the plugs? Can you hear the fuel pump running when you first turn the key to on position?

Yes everything checks out for that list. I called VW and they said that it might be the ignition switch. Today I bought new spark plugs (just in case it is just spark plugs) hoping that will help out. I will put them in tomorrow. I have a ignition switch out of a junked Jetta. I hope that will solve the problem. If not I am just back to the good ol' drawing board.

You have spark & the fuel pump is running. Are the spark plugs fouled/wet with gas after cranking? Do you have a simple fuel pressure gauge?

Well, I'm hoping the new spark plugs will take care of the possibility of the fouled out plugs. No I don't have a fuel pressure guage. But I'm hoping it will be either the spark plugs or the ignition switch.

Crank the engine, pull a plug & see if it's wet with gas. That would be an indicator of certain problems.

Well, we fixed the problem. It turns out it was part of the ignition switch. Not the part where the key goes in but the little plastic thing behind it. Hopefully this thread will help someone if this happens to them.

Yea, thats called "the electrical portion" of the ignition switch. Goes bad alot on newer vw's in colder climates.
