Air Conditioner blowing cool air intermittentlyCCDriver 03-06-2005, 05:46 PM My air conditioner on 96 cirrus lxi is blowing cool air only intermittently. The fan motor itself is fine according to mechanic and coolant level is fine, but the fan will run and it will be blowing cool air for about 15 minutes and then the air all of a sudden blows out warm or at outside temp. for the same amount of period, and then back to cool again. 2 A/C mechanics have looked at it and are scratching their heads. Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be? Thanks. kplusten 03-15-2005, 03:03 PM I've found that most AC problems are better left to the pros, but here's some things to consider. Be sure the AC cooling fan is operating or the freon will stay hot and cause the high pressure switch to shut down the compressor. If you serviced it yourself, it is very easy to over-service the system, again causing the high pressure switch to shut it down after a few minutes of cooling. I had a high pressure switch go bad on a 96 Cirrus, another potential problem. Also, if you put in freon yourself, it is very easy to get air in the system, again producing too high a pressure. Evacuation of the system is then required followed by reservicing. Be careful...the high pressure is dangerous. rc06 04-19-2006, 05:33 PM Ive got a similar problem, did you find a solution yet vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
