92 Shadow

I'm looking at a 92 dogde shadow 2.5L automatic (front wheel drive). thinkin about buyin it, except for one problem... the engine sounds just fine when its idling, however when the car is put into gear the engine starts to sputter (making a strange sound). using a stethoscope, I discovered the noise was primarily coming from the area around the balance shafts. Any ideas what this problem could be?
thanks alot..

Re: 92 Shadow

could be a worn balance shaft (known by Chrysler as an intermediate shaft). How many miles are on the odometer? Ask the seller if he has a record of any repairs done on the car most importantly if the timing belt has been done recently.

First off, there are 175 000 Km's on the odometre (yeah thats right, Im Canadian eh). I also know that the timing belt has recently been replaced as well as the heads. approximately how much would this cost to fix? I'm just trying to figure out a reasonable price here.. thanx alot

Re: 92 Shadow

well, here in the U.S., t-belt and a head job would go for about $1800. Chances are, that car might have a worn intermediate shaft or when the belt was replaced, it wasn't timed properly.
