ok boys here we go another swap question... ive got a 86.5 N/A supra and i want to do the 1jz swap, the reason for the 1jz swap and not the 7mgte is because i blew my 7m engine (really pisses me off) and thats why im steering away from it, according to my step dad who is a mechanic says i threw a rod, and the notorious blown head gasket... so i decided to go with somthing more powerful and more reliable... thats where the 1jzgte comes in, now for those who have done the swap please give me some advice, and ill even take advice if someone recomends a better engine, that is easy so swap with the least amount of custimizing as possible, please help me, if you know any good places to buy engines, tranny and ecu ECT all that i need for the swap, help me out i would really appreciate it... thanks

get a front clip from Jarcoinc.com.. comes with everything! Also the HG is an easy thing to fix on a 7m motor... why not go 2jz i got a buddy with a 89 2jz... 7m Vs 1jz people will argue all day long! 1jz good for the track and 7m is good for the drag...

Make sure the clip has a usable front cross member. The 1JZ needs an 89 or newer front cross member due to a motor mount change made that year.

I'm in the very process of doing the same to my 88 turbo.
*1J motor mounts
*JZA70 front crossmember
*ECU wiring loom/ harness needs extended if keeping the car LHD

A clip usually has the majority of all this stuff. I didn't go this route. I bought everything individually so my quest is slightly different. I chose this route..

*Tiger Autos 1JZGTE rear sump w/ NO ECU or wiring loom/ harness
*AEM EMS 30-1110
*HKS DLI
*Big single turbo, it may have been sort of pointless to use the turbo I am as I'm sure it is possible to reach similar numbers with the stock twins...but hey it opened up doors for future mods. I went .68 trim T4. It rates around 550 hp but idk yet, i'll let the numbers do the talking when shes done.
*272 cams
*1J bellhousing for the R154 tranny
*ACT 6- puck clutch EXTREME
*1J flywheel FIDANZA
*HKS Turbo Timer
*2J water pump to eliminate the hydro pump
*2J timing belt GReddy
*2J pullies
*NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
*Aluminum Mishimoto Radiator
*larger intercooler
*SSQV BOV

The driveshaft remains the same length so no replacement is needed, but it never hurt anyone. Just some basic insight at what I have been looking at. really dont know how much this helps any.
