I have a 2002 LSE Rodeo with 80K on it, at 19K it bucked and hopped its way into the dealership only for them to ask me if I had done any work on the transmission. Why would I have, it was still brand new. They stated it was low on transmission fluid and then told me it was a sealed unit. At 40K the shift selector switch went haywire and was subsequently covered by warranty as the first time. Now at 80K it started slipping in first gear. After readind many excerpts on this forum, I pull the fill plug and nothing trickled out, so I put in 3 1/2 quarts of Dexron III ATF using a $8 pump from Walmart because the filler plug is upside down, ingenious. Didn't want to have it flushed as it may dislodge some gunk into the smaller holes and then it would need to be replaced. If I change it somewhat consistently, the detergent in the new stuff will work its way through the old stuff over time. Anyway it works fine now. I ordered the new filter & gasket and will drain and fill this weekend. I'll be sure to change it more often now. Thanks for all the advice. Great forum, saved me $100s, maybe $1000s of dollars.
