12 sec 1/4 mile MR2 Turbo?flip888 03-03-2005, 05:33 AM I want a car that i can gradualy make into a 12 sec car and Ive liked the MR2 ever since i was a kid (Plus my friend has a 92 Eclipse GSX thats in the 12s so i want to give him a little competition :)) so I was wondering how much it would cost to get a MR2 into the 12's. . Also, I was told the MR2 launches realy good for a RWD car, it can handle a lot of hp, it handles realy good, and it is very reliable, is this true? Thanks I forgot to add that i can do all the work myself so all the money can go streight into mods>. clawhammer 03-03-2005, 10:01 AM To be well in the 12s you probably need at least 275 whp. To do that you'll probably need intake, exhaust, manual/electronic boost controller, better IC, and possibly bigger turbo. I would say $3000-$4000 should do it. When properly driven, the MR2 can out launch many cars ~ including AWDs. attica85 03-03-2005, 03:23 PM hyde....ive visited at your site many times and just gotta say its awesome. keep it up man JekylandHyde 03-04-2005, 08:08 AM Thanks attica .... keep your eyes peeled in here. JekylandHyde 03-06-2005, 07:19 PM Did you have the correct link? http://www.jekylhyderacing.com/ flip888 03-07-2005, 12:59 PM thanks that was very helpfull. about how much have you spent on hyde sofar? JekylandHyde 03-07-2005, 01:03 PM That's a hard question to answer ... the actual number would be really skewed because of having 3 full sets of rims & tires (that's a huge $$ right there). That and I have been very fortunate that my sponsors have picked up some healthy bills for me. If I had to guess, there was between $6K-$9K of power mods on Hyde as of last season. After this winter, it will be more like $9K - $12K. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
