Re: Rallying

rallycross is a timed solo run on a short close course, usually out in a field or on a flat part of an off-road course.

rally is what you see on TV

unfortunately, there's not many rallycrosses in our part of the country yet, but SCCA is putting in a big effort this year to make sure that every part of the country has Rallycross, so keep your eyes peeled on www.scca.com and www.myautoevents.com

Re: Rallying

The biggest difference is that Performance Rallying requires a huge amount of car prep (ie. safety items etc.) in order to run the event. Rallycross is designed to so that anybody with a roadworthy vehicle can go out and have some fun and hone their technique. The course is designed to be short as well as slow with the emphasis on techical driving. There is also Navigational rallying which is geared towards being on time and navigation not on going fast.
