Heater and tempreture gauge on 1995 f150tardo 03-02-2005, 04:55 PM I just purchased a 1995 f150 and the heater works but it does not get real hot. On the tempreture gauge the needle does not move very far in to the normal zone. Is this normal for this truck? 4wheelmadman 03-03-2005, 04:17 PM no it should not be normal first change the thermostat. If that does nothing to the gauge check the tempurature sensor, it could be bad. andy2005 03-03-2005, 09:26 PM Ford gauges are not known for there accuracy. I had a similar problem in my '90 F-150, and I flushed the heater core and that helped. Also, the temp. gauge in my '92 F-250 does not even reach the half way point, but the heater works great. ModMech 03-04-2005, 01:43 PM Ford gauges are not powered by bettery voltage directly, but by the IVR (insterment voltage regulator) at about 9V. If the IVR dies, the fuel gauge and temp gauges will read lower (or higher) than they shuold at all times, and by about the same amount on the scales. Feel your heater hoses with the engine running at operating temp and the heater off but BE CAREFUL to stay clear of the exhaust and any rotating parts (fan etc)!!!! If the hoses are HOT (so you cannot hold them), then the t-stat is likely ok. The heater controls do not control the water, but the blend air. If the blend door cannot close fully due to debris or drive motor failure, you will never get fully hot air from the heater. tardo 03-11-2005, 06:36 PM Ford gauges are not powered by bettery voltage directly, but by the IVR (insterment voltage regulator) at about 9V. Where is best to check for the 9Volts comming off the IVR? dswe 05-22-2005, 08:39 AM HELP!!! 99 Ford F150 4X4 XLT I checked my Heater system out and found with, the help of the dealer, a blend door motor that had suposedly failed ( said it is a common failure). I purchased the motor (70.00) but the old one turned ok, but I still put in the new one. 12 volts in to the control at the dash and varried from 4 volts to 11.93 volts... Ok by the dealer, but still only cool operation or after driving HOT operation all by itself. I took the blend door motor off again and felt the connection. Feels like it is in three parts and I can turn it just with my finger tip and no change from heat to cool. I fear that the door is broken inside. I am trying to access the blend door but ut oh you have to take out the entire dash!! Problem is when you reach the passenger side airbag I can't seem to find any specs to remove it? Any Ideas where to get the information? Thanks for any help. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
