just a quick questionurbanmtb 02-28-2005, 11:47 PM I was looking around and noticed that the ion redline engine (http://www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/product1.aspx?SID=2&Product_ID=1296&Category_ID=67) is going to be about 4k dollars. I was wondering if anyone knows what it would take to swap it into a 91-96 SC2(I have a 96 myself) I don't have the money now but I think that would be an interesting car to have. I'm guessing it would be pretty involved but I only have a somewhat general knowledge of cars. mysatilac 03-01-2005, 01:12 AM Anyone know of an equivilent engine for LESS THAN $4,000 that would drop in? I know Four Thousand Dollars worth of mods would probably give your Sc a cool enough look and feel with NO2, Turbo, and Lots of engine and "look" mods Damn that sounds like a lot of money though... I haven't spent that much buying a car as of yet, and I've gone through a few (V8 Pontiac Bonneville, V6 Chevy Corsica, V6 Ford Taurus, V8 Dodge RamCharger, and my current 4 cyl. Saturn SL1) all for under $2,000- nice cars, but maybe I just got lucky urbanmtb 03-01-2005, 02:37 PM I was just thinking that would be a nice way of getting some more horsepower and ensuring that your car will last a lot longer since in a way you'd be getting a new car. old body but new engine(and I'm assuming transmission). it's doubtful that I would do this but I think it would be an interesting thing to see. sierrap615 03-01-2005, 10:59 PM other then the SOHC and the DOHC, nothing with swap in without a lot of work. for starters the Ecotec won't even fit between the rails of the S-series engine compartment. mysatilac 03-01-2005, 11:56 PM yeah, it would be cool to see, but then again so is the ion redline... or a saturn with turbo and NO2 as mentioned before... Sorry to see that it doesn't look like it will be a drop in or anything, sierrap set us straight again LOL :) sierrap615 03-02-2005, 01:07 AM well it could be done, it would just take ALOT of effort. to prove my point - http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47410 mysatilac 03-02-2005, 01:41 AM NICE!... That is a Saturn from hell (or heaven)! Yeah, I see both of your points... looks like it took quite a bit of work, and is a very interesting/cool car They made some statements in that forum (didn't read them all) that have me thinking it is mostly a show car though... No headlights or air cleaner!? (guess they wouldn't fit) and I can't blame them for it being a show car (bet its won a few), I wouldn't drive it except on the Dyno ;) I haven't even seen a 6 cylinder saturn car, ALMOST DID! (my uncle bought me mine on the auction block after hearing it had an engine swap to a 6-cylinder, he found out other wise (4 cyl.) and they dropped the price some to keep him hooked*disapponited*) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
