Car horn gone crazy

Every time i turn my wheel a few inches to the right, i'm treated to a nice, loud BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP, and then when i turn it back again to straight through the 'beeping point' - BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP again. It's never happened before and started after the car was parked for ~15 mins....

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a wiring issue, time to start taking pannels off arround the steering column.

Re: Car horn gone crazy

my old MKII did the same thing, I had trouble with the wiring around the steering wheel. mine has a metal disk that a metal tab sits against. for me it was in there. you are probably going to need to pull off the covers on the steering column. once you do look at the wiring there, then starting moving towards the steering wheel. start easy then go to hard. also once cover is off move steering wheel to when the horn goes off and look and see if anything wires are touching and so forth.

good luck.

Re: Car horn gone crazy

Thanks guys. I've disconnected the horn itself and will get to work on the steering column at the weekend.

Cheers

Re: Car horn gone crazy

try looking at the horn switch inside the steering wheel

my old mk1 used to stick closed every so often
it just took a couple of secs to open up the plastic casing and bend the metal tabs apart again
