well.. what is you stock tire size?
for example.. if you have a P11 G20t your stock tire size is 195/60/15 which has an outside diameter of 24.2 inches..
so to keep all measurements as close to stock, you'd want a tire that is as close to 24.2 inches total..
for 17's your options would be...
215/40/17 which has a diameter of 23.7 inches
215/45/17 which has a diameter of 24.4 inches
the 40's are about half inch smaller overall
the 45's are about 1/4 inch bigger overall
its your call really and might also depend on how much you lower your car....
if you lower more than 1.5" i'd go w/ the 40's
if less go w/ the 45's to fill up some more wheel well gap...
if this is for a P10, I'd go with the 40's

I'm using 215/45/17's on my P11 (+45mm offset). lookin' gooooood. some say they can stick a 225/40/17 in there, so try that if you wanna go exxxotic. Nitto makes NT555's in 225/40's.

Most of the Primera's i have seen on 17's are using a 1.5" drop on 215/45/17 with no problem of rub etc.
If you dont want a "rubber band" look....it gives you a bit more tyre side wall.

I'm running 215/45-17's on about a 2" drop. No rubbing.

The closest match to stock p11 (24.21") diameter on a 17 inch is 205/45 17 (24.26") but, if you want a wider width go with 215/45 17

yah, my car is lowered about 1.75inches too with TEIN's. no rubbing. 215/45/17's are the way to go, I think.
205/45's are a bit thin...civic kinda look, imo.

The wider the tyre the more grip you will have. Go with the 215's on 45 profiles for the P11. The 205 is a bit to small. The P10's stock wheel is a 14 inch 195 on a 60 profile, so a 215, 40 profile is better here.

P.S - Dont get to bigger side walls. There is nothing worse than spending heaps of money on big wheels and having them look small because the side wall of the tyre is to big. When you see a car like that you think the wheels are only 15's or 16's. Another thing. Get wheels where the spokes go to the very outside of the wheel. It makes them look bigger!

I'm running 225/45/18 and have no trouble.
You may just have to turn the lip inside the back wheel arch to stop the rub when you hit big dips hard.
Also have a 40mm drop on mine
