Reverse Gauge install

Hey all...I have a 2.2L Automatic 98 Cavalier and I want to get one of those reverse light gauge covers...

http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...nlinestore DB

Something that has pissed me off since I got the car is that there is no RPM gauge...

Is it possible to add the cover above to my existing panel by adding stuff and switching around the dials or do i have to get a seperate meter
to show rpms?

thanks

Re: Reverse Gauge install

I don't think it would be possible, may be wrong.

I would get this one...
http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...nlinestore DB
and then get a custom tach mounted off to the side, big or small, whatever you like.

I bought a factory cluster with a tac to put in mine. When I get off my lazy ass and put it in I'll let you know if it works right off the bat.

Re: Reverse Gauge install

Thanks, and Thanks...I like your choice for the gauge cover w/o the tach, and I just might get it. If the factory thing works then I'll be surprised and relieved. As for putting in an external tachometer, I've been reading that I need an adapter from some RK site or something as well as the tachometer and some way to mount it. Any suggestions as to what the price tags should hit for each part as well as any preffered parts?

well the expensive one is autometer is about 150 plus like 70 for adapter

i bought a sunpro for 30 and adapter for 35 and works great

you just need some extra wire to run from engine to adapter

and the mounting is at your own way

i had it in the lower left corner of my dash just behind the stickers

is well hidden and right in front of me so no distraccion

Holy shit I forgot about this post lol. Since it has been brought back from death I'll go ahead and add that the cluster swap worked with no extra wiring. I now have the factory cluster w/ tac and the tac works no problems.

So you didn't have a tach before.....you bought a new cluster, and now it works without doing anything extra?

Re: Reverse Gauge install

Wow, that makes it easy. How much did the cluster cost you? Are you still gonna get the reverse glow gauges from ProCarParts.com?

I bought it used off ebay for about $30. And no I'm not getting reverse guages...I never planed on it. I actually had them for my cluster when I didn't have the tac, but my gas guage didn't read right after I had installed it and I couldn't fix it.
