NA or FI?

Ok, yes I am a "noob" as some of you say. But I want to learn. What is the definition of Naturally Aspirated and Forced Induction.

Re: NA or FI?

just as you said, a NA engine is an engine thats built up using things like intake, exhaust, P&P, light weight internals, high compression, cams, yadda yadda yadda.

A FI engine uses either a supercharger, turbocharger, or Nitrous Oxide. This method forces more air into the engine.

Re: Re: NA or FI?

NA means normally aspirated. This means that all air and as a result fuel are inducted purely by the vaccuum created by the piston travelling down within the cylinder, with the intake valve(s) open. Any way of easing the flow in and out will produce gains in hp. FI Forced Induction, says it all really. Using one of two methods (in rare crazy cases both) in order to FORCE air into the engine and depending on Carb or Inj the extra fuel as a result of more air. This means that more fuel and oxygen will be inside the combustion chamber causing a much more potent explosion for want of a better word not already used and then more power.
