I've ordered a 2nd masterkey off of eBay but the instructions I downloaded off of the internet don't seem to work. I'm getting frustrated w/ the whole deal because I had lots of problems getting the key cut in the first place because my used 2001 IS 300 had the ignition switch changed so it has a new key code different from the original one that's matched to the VIN. Either way, the key opens the door and is cut right but I cannot get the thing programmed. HELP!!!

For 1998+ Toyota, Lexus
Add Duplicate Key
1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time.
2. Insert existing master key into ignition.
3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.
4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and
remove key.
5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition.
6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time.
7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off.
8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.

For 2002+ Toyota, Lexus
Add Duplicate Key
Requires one working Toyota/Lexus Master Key.
1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.
2. Insert Master key into the ignition cylinder.
3. Cycle the ignition cylinder from On to OFF five times.
4. Open and close the “driver side” door 6 times.
5. Remove the Master Key and insert the new duplicates key.
6. TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON.
7. The new key will be registered after 60 seconds. The THEFT light on the dashboard will go out, indicating that programming has been completed.

To program the remotes on your new key, you have to go through the door lock exercise using the old programmed key. I spent a lot of time trying to program using the new key and found out that the old key needs to be used when you do the door lock/unlock routine.

I was successful over the weekend programming a new key for a 2002 Lexus ES300 using the "pedal dance" method. The "door" method did not work. Also, to program the remote, FCC ID#HYQ1512V, the correct method is to do the following with the new key:
1.with no key in the ignition an dthe drivers door open and unlocked
2.within 4-5 seconds put the key in the ignition and remove 2 times
3.close the drivers door and open 2 times
4.put the key in the ignition and remove
5.close the drivers door and open 2 times
6.put the key in the ignition and close the drivers door
7.turn the ignition to ON for 1 second then turn OFF
8.remove the key from the ignition
9.the power locks should now cycle once
10.press the unlock and lock buttons at the same time for 1 second and then quickly press the unlock and lock buttons for 1 second again
11.if the remote is programmed the door locks will cycle once. If failed the door locks will cycle 2 times
12.open the drivers door to end the procedure!

After trying all the other procedures I found, like power lock switch 5 times, or manual door lock switch 5 times, etc....I found the procedure listed above and it is correct. I programmed the new remote in under 5 minutes!....good luck!
