Re: head lights

The bulbs come out from the backside, on the driver's side you may have to remove the battery.

Does anyone have a good diagram of how to change the low-beam bulb on the drivers side? The manual just says take it to the dealer (I don't want to do that for a light bulb), I can do it if I just know the steps, but when I went to do it last night I was puzzled as hell...my Honda (VW is girlfriends car) you pop out a bulb and pop in a bulb...this (VW) seems overly complex to change a light bulb!

Help!

Jason

2001 Golf 2DR 2.0 auto/gas (Model=? Girlfriends car).

The driver's headlight seems to have some sort of shield behind it and it is right in front of the battery, very tight, can't even see the socket for the low beam?

I would like to find out, too. I have a 2001 Golf 1.8T (4 doors). I have no problem changing the turning signal and low beam; however, I can't seem to be able to get my hand in and change the high beam and marker lights....I managed to open their covers, but there's no room left for my hand! Help!!!!

Re: head lights

If you're hand can't fit then remove the battery & shield.

Alright...that's not too hard for the driver side...how about the passenger side...what can I safely move to make more room?

BTW, if I am eager to add foglight to my car, is it better (or easier) to replace my headlight assembly or install the "grill foglight"? I have to run a relay and line through the firewall into the "7in1" switch that I've just bought online, so that's a constant, but which way is better/easier on the "light" side? Especially when the two options differ by about $75-150 in price (if not more) Thanks.
