my friend has a 99sc2 and we found a 01 1.9l dohc motor now will that drop in and if not why not thanks..

check the intake manifold, if the 99 has a top mounted throttle body then yes, if it has a side mounted throttle body then no. the change was made mid-year 99 and the firewall had to be moved.
