2000 express drivers window won't go back up

Can't get the drivers electric window to go back up at times. Seems to be a problem only in cold weather. Never a problem going down.

Sailor let me know if you install the new motor and it solves your problem. I have the same trouble with my driver window also and it is driving me nuts. Thanks!

Drivers Window won't go back up all the way?

Any new or confirmed solutions here?

rsmitechie: which screws are you talking about?

Sailorman41: what was your solution?

My symptoms: drivers side window started struggling up and down about half way up and down. Had to grab it and help it along by hand. Then it worked fine for a while. Now I powered it down the other day and can't get it back up. It won't go down either. Now its just stuck half way up/down. It sounds as if power goes to the motor when i hit the switch but window doesn't move. fyi the passenger window works fine.

Please Help,

I did find some info at a1electric.com/s10motor.htm but need more info.

Does anyone know of a repair manual for these express vans?
I can't find any in the stores for my 98 express. Seems they only go up to 96.

I have had the same problem in my '98 Savanna. I checked the switch - it's ok. Checked the motor - it's ok. Checked the window for freedom from binding - it's ok. However, I discovered that if I let the auto-down feature take the dirver's window ALL the way down, that the window will be stuck for up to five minutes. The more I try to operate it, the longer it remains stuck. I just have to wait it out.

Work around... I discovered that if I beep the up button just before the window reaches full down (stopping it manually with the up switch), it has never become stuck. My guess is that the problem resides in the little circuit board that controls the auto-down function.

Good luck!

On the auto-down, is there a microswitch somewhere that senses when the window is all the way down? If there is, maybe it's out of adjustment. My armstrong units work just fine on my '92.

I was able to get my window back up after alot of shake rattle and roll but don't dare try to roll it down again.

Tested the voltage going to the motor and got 11.77.

Either the thing is binding up some how, misaligned, or ???

Any experience resolving the binding, misaligned, off track issue would be helpful. it looks difficult to get into straightening the thing out.

I noticed that also, it was almost as if the circuit would crowbar. Before I learned to stop the autodown I would turn the ignition off and on to get it to work. Those switch modules are flakey, mine finally went out and the darn thing costs $94. There shoulda been a recall.
