New battery for '91

How long would it take me to change the battery and cables, if I have no experience at all, and is it possible for me to try it before school, if somebody tells me how?

Re: New battery for '91

what year? hardest part is pos. cable. have to go under to undo old and hook up new to the sileniod. rest
is a piece of cake. just do one cable at a time. undo neg. cable from battery and then follow it to where its grounded, undo it and then put on new one on. take pos cable off of battery follow it down to the starter
undo it (you might have to drop the starter to get to it, if so its only two bolts) put new one on then take old battery out and new one in connect pos. to pos on battery and then neg. to neg. on battery. then you ready to go. before school isnt really the ideal time to do this. could take time if you have to drop the starter. plus youll need time to get cleaned up. and youll need good lighting to see what youre doing under the truck. good luck.

You'll have to take the cables off, and measure them first. If you have an auto shop in your school they'll probably bring it in, and do the job for you for the price of the parts (plus they get a discount that you probably can't get).

The complete job will take you about 30 min, not including the parts run

Re: New battery for '91

replacing the cables if they don't need it will cost just about as much as a tow to an electric company.

If it's a standard I'd push start it and drive it to an electric shop for tests.

You could have a dead starter, or alternator and it gets expensive replacing everything that doesn't need it.

most shops won't charge you for the tests if you buy the parts off them

Re: New battery for '91

autozone will test them for free. whats wrong with your
truck? dead battery iguess, but have you tried a jump or anything? overboard is right, your starter could be dead. hate for you to waste all that money and still not have a running truck.
