need help wit engine stalling and jumping

I have a 1994 Chevy lumina its got 241000 miles on it i nkow thats alot and problably the main problem but my problem is gettin worse by the day the car will start up and run fine till u get in it and go then it starts spuddering and tries to quit sometimes it will quit and the check engine light stays on all the time it did come on and go off but now its on all the time i put new plugs in it dindt change anything that i could tell but plz help me out not very good at these things

If the check engine light comes on, then there are certain codes set in your computer that can help you trace your problem. has to checked to see what they are. Some parts companies will do this for free, but some will only check 96 or newer. You can get a tester for 20-25 bucks that plugs into your computer plug(under your dash) and it will give you codes in the form of flashes (your check engine light will flash a certain number of times, short and long flashes). Once youhave these you can begin to trace problem. Can be MANY things, but at least your check engine light is coming on. Sometimes these things happen and you don't have a starting point. Do NOT unhook your battery before getting this information. Will wipe out your computer's memory.

also, please list the engine in your car you have and whether it has multi port fule injection, or a throttle body (looks like a carburator). All the info you can supply helps the peopl who read these posts to give advice.

without knowing the code it's hard to tell but a bad egr valve will do the same
