emissions

My car needs to be inspected soon, plus the b16 swap is on its way. I failed my emissions test today, and I'm not sure what to do. I obviously dont want to put any money into this engine (I was trying to duck out of an oil change that should have happened 100 miles ago). One of the main reasons why I was getting the swap was because my motor is not running real well, especially around oil change time. I think I may need an o2 sensor, but the car passed last time, so I never worried about it. plugs and wires are fine. I guess I'm wondering if the b16 can pass smog here - has anyone ran their b16 through emissions and have the numbers? They dont have to pop the hood or anything, so they wont know what's in there. I guess I'll get an oil change and put some of that shit in the gas to help pass emissions. Any other ideas?

Dont take it in while its not warmed all the way up. Run it hard as hell before you get to the shop doing the inspection, this will help lower the emissions somewhat, believe it or not.
which readings did you fail on?

Yea or just change the oil....it doesnt cost but like $10 and do it yourself and then run the car real hard for a while and take it into the shop and have them test it. Also do what crxlvr said and get the "guaranteed to pass" stuff.

i love wisconsin...colder than most peoples' moms but no emissions testing...free to mod as you please...the only law we have is you must have a catalytic converter on your car unless you register it as street modified or collector

I failed hydrocarbons on idle barely and both tests for carbon monoxide. I'll try that guaranteed to pass stuff. I did run it pretty hard before I got there, because I took it right after work, which is about 30 miles away. The problem is after I drive it that long, the engine starts "coughing" (I dont know how else to describe it), so it seems to run worse after I drive it a bit. That may or may not have an effect on the emissions...Thanks...and damn you kyle
