Mild Lift

ok maybe a stupid question but what would a mild 2-4 inch lift look like with 265/75/16 bfg m/t's.

Good, but go 6". With a 6" you get everything you need to lift it 6". It is more $$ but well worth it.

wouldnt a 6" lift look silly with only 265's...most people run alot bigger?

yeh...265/75 is a stock tire size....with a 4" lift you could get 305/75's or 285/75's with no problem and if you got a 6" lift you could get 315/75's and most likely even 35's, which are like 1/2" taller than a 315/75. If i were to spend the money for a suspension lift, go big or go home!

i wanted to keep the tires i had right now i just wanted a little more clearance.

rancho is what i am looking at as well they and from what i hear skyjacker are the only companies that offer a 4 and 3 inch lift respectively. the skyjacker 3 inch is supposed to be a brand new product offered by skyjacker. i have been to their web site and they dont have it listed so i dont know if what i heard is incorrect or if it is just that new and skyjackers web site isnt updated often.all i want is a small amount of lift as well. i believe i will be going with rancho unless this skyjacker is that much better. if i was to go with 6 inches though i would go with Rockkrawler to be able to eliminate the torsion bars....this is a very expensive lift but in my opinion worth the extra money if you were interested in a 6 inch lift.

Why not use a 2" lift block out back and then some new torison bar keys?? that oughta give you what you're looking for.

I'm normally not usually for skimping on things when you want a suspension lift/drop. However, I think this is the best thing for you to do. For the look you want, its the simplest and easiest thing to do. Since you want to keep your tires that you currently have just a few turns of the torsion bar to raise it 1.5"-2" and as jeverett said 2" blocks in the back.

My friend has a 99 Z71 with a 6" lift and he fits 36's.

thought about blocks and torsion bars but i do want a little more than 2 inches of lift thats why for as big a tire i want to use the 4 inch rancho is my best bet.i have heard a little ill effects about cranking on the torsion bars too.

315/75 and 35's are both 34.8 inch tall (bfg mt's)
might as well go 6" its almost the same amount of work and cost about the same

Agreed, Go with a 6" and 315's. You won't regret it!

BTW, it is true that 315's and 35's are IDENTICAL in size.

almost the 35's are slightly wider by like.1 inches and the 315's have a higher load rating and can be set at a higher psi 50 for 315 compared to 35 for 35's (bfg) also depends on brand rim diameter

clearance ?
ground or body
most people put on a lift so they can fit bigger tires to get more ground clearance or for looks
a lift will not give you more ground clearance but bigger tires will

I would definitely go with a 6". My truck came with 285/75/16 stock and I've been waiting for the tires to wear down a bit more before I spend the money on some 315/75/16. But it doesn't look bad with only 285's it looks a bit small in the wheelwell but still good nonetheless. If you're gonna bother lifting your truck in the first place I would just go for the full 6" b/c the price is about the same for both.
