Multiple problems with 93 Honda Accordjunk_driver 02-21-2005, 10:48 PM I have a 1993 Honda Accord (10 th Anniversary edition) with 130 K miles. The car is having the following problems 1. Coolant level going down, for every 500 miles 1 quart (1 litre) of filling is required 2. Exhaust smell is coming while running the heater I took the car to Pepboys for overall analysis. Pepboys gave the following quotes 2521 Replace Head/Head Gasket Pkg -$774.72 99972 Head Bolt -$80.00 99972 Cylinder Head Check -$125.00 1414 Radiator Hose Pkg - $130.00 Engine Failed Block Test Exhaust gas is leaking into engine cooling system Also noted lower engine noise They said the car is beyond repair and dont run the car anymore, but I am still driving around 300 miles a month. I request the opinion about whether I can keep driving this car, and whether the estimate given by Pepboys is nominal? Thanks Ehscrewdude 02-22-2005, 08:28 AM One question, what the hell did you do to it...? If you're being accurate about what's wrong then I'd say your better off getting another honda accord, dealer certified... AccordCodger 02-22-2005, 08:53 AM You've got the right handle, "junkdriver!" This is what is known in "the trade" as "BER." --- "Beyond economic repair." That's not to say that you couldn't work on it yourself, but it isn't worth a paid, professional fix. Also, by its condition, I wonder how long you've had it and how it was maintained. Get rid of it. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
