I've got a 2000 and I noticed it started whining a few days ago. I poured some seafoam into the tank about a month back and I don't think that would cause the whine. It seems to have gotten a bit louder although maybe its just me...I hope it's not getting ready to die on me...Could there be moisture in the tank or anything besides a dying pump? Any suggestions?

Re: fuel pump

seafoam is pretty much the same thing as B12 Chemtool..its some sort of fuel injector cleaner..it also removes moisture form fuel and oil....it helps remove varnish from lifters and breaks up the gumming up on piston rings....i used it not too long ago and definitely noticed a bit of a difference at idle....the motor seemed to run a bit smoother and get there quicker instead of running rough for about a minute....When the whining started on my fuel pump it was the first warm day here in dallas in a while...hopefully it was only some moisture in the tank and nothing serious with the pump.....i guess we'll find out soon enough..

Was it especially cold out when it was whining?

I noticed mine whines when its cold. We're talking in the 40s. Only does it when its that cold.

I thought I had an issue with mine (turned out to be a dirty throttle body) and called the dealer. Diag cost they quoted me was only $85. Thats a lot easier to swallow than $480 parts/labor for a new pump.

If you really think the pumps bad, is $85 worth peace of mind?
