coolant is leaking?

I took my car to change the valve cover gasket. After I picked it up, I found something was leaking all over the driveway. Since I just paid almost $300. I took it back it the morning. I found out that my coolant reservior was empty. The mechanic looked at it and clamped the hose. He filled up the tank and said everything is going to be ok. That was on last Thurday. On Sunday, I checked my engine and found out that the coolant reservior was complelty empty again. I don't see any leak at all for the last 3-4 days, where is all the coolant. I didn't want to drive with the empty coolant tank, so I filled it up. I saw dripped coming out right away while I filled up the tank. I drove the car for a while and open the hood again, now the coolant is at the low level of the tank and it did not appear to leak anymore?

I wonder if anyone could tell me what happened? This is Camry 1997, 6 cyclinder, 110000.

Thank you very much

was it leaking before you took it to the mechanic. if not, then the mechanic probably did something to screw up your car

Re: coolant is leaking?

i had the same problem but mine is not as serious as your sounds but the leak is where it holds the coolant. where the clip is there is a little hole and everytime you make a hard turn or a tight turn it will leak and leak and leak. i hope that helps you good luck. you might want to replace it but if you buy the parts from the dealer ship it is very expensive like 40 i think for the coolant plastic tank. you could probably buy a cheaper one at pep boys but it is different and have to make a seperate mount. good luck hope that solves your problem =)
