Exclamation loss of rpm, power stearing, then stalling

I have a Jetta GLS Mannual with about 100,000 miles. What has happened is that when i start up my car it takes a little longer to turn the engine over. As soon as it turns over the rpms sit at about 900 where it usually sits around 1000-1,100 at idle. Then once i put it into gear and excellarate i notice that when excellarating something has trouble taking the gas at first and then it begins to take the gas after a couple of seconds on the peddle. No when i put it into neutral this is when the problem kicks in, the rpm will return to 900 then reduce quickly to no rpms. Thus I stall. I lose all my power stearing and my power. I could tell this by my clock resetting to 12. Then i restarted my car but before turning over the engine i notice (after the light check) only 3 lights remain on, the check engine light, the batery light and oil light. I was able to turn my engine over again and get it home (luckily i was only a block away from my house) And as i was in gear pulling into my driveway it statlled again, i felt a little bit lucky that i was able to get my car home but unlucky that now i dont have a car i can get to work with. Does anyone know or think they know what might have happened to my car. Its been snowing here for the past two days so i havent been able to check levels or the engine or anything but hopefully it'll clear up tommorrow and ill be able to take a look but in the mean time im posting this to reach out for help.

Also I noticed a couple weeks ago there was a major crack in my breather hose, could this be the problem, when i discoverd this crack i asked a napa auto parts dealer if it was something i needed to fix quickly and he advised me that i could run my car for another 5,000 miles and there wouldnt be a problem? So im thinking i t could be a starter problem, an altenator, a baterry, oil, let me know what you think! THANKS

Vacuum leaks can cause the engine to stall, The breather hoses included. I'd fix that problem first, VW usually keeps all those parts in stock.
