Unhappy 1992 Chevy Lumina APV

HELP!!! My van started out by overheating and I replaced the coil packs and that seemed to work. Now, it doesn't seem to be firing and I don't know where to start looking for a fix. I know it can be any number of things from inexpensive to expensive but not knowing where to start and replacing a few things can lead to expensive. There are times where I can get it to fire and it will start and go well a few times and then others when it wont' start at all. Any help will be exremely appreciated!!

Please give more information. Engine size etc. Was it running badly before coil packs replaced? How did you know to replace them? Why was engine overheating? If it is not firing after new coil packs i would assume it to be an ignition module problem. On most vehicles it is the flat device under the coil packs. Best to replace those and coil packs together as a rule. I have not dealt with APV's myself but I am pretty sure most had 3.1 V-6 engines. If yours is not firing right then it could be the module, or even a crank sensor, which tells the computer when to fire. Anyway, advise engine and anything else you can think of to help me or others give further advice.
