Sup guys,

Anway I was wondering what kind of oil you guys use in your engines?
I was thinking about going with 20w-50. Why? because I learned a shit load about oils the other day and I heard that its probably a good idea to use 20w-50 becuase between the cylinder wall and piston theirs more space, then like on 4 cylinder car. Mines a L6 by the way. My auto shop teacher said if I dont notice a change in Gas Mileage that its probably I good idea to. Plus I do have over 100,000 miles. So is he full of shit, should I use it, should I not?

-Plus what kind of Oil Pressure you guys get?

20 w 50 is great if your car runs hot say 200 210 less breakdown and with a mileage comes engin wear and more tolerance (IE) more space between parts....use lucas oil its the best, I run around 60 psi at idle but i have high volume. As far a MPG it may because every thing will be tighter.

Well I dont have a V8, so yes my Oil pressure is lower. Its about 35 and idel its like 10. My temp is about 190. I think a 20w-50 should be ok. If anyone else has any comments feel free.

I've always used 20w-50 oil as well. It's just a "thicker" type oil and it seems to work better. My car carries alot of oil pressure, almost to the point where its unhealthy. At first start up it carrier areound 85 psi, then after its warm it stays around 70. Carries around 60 PSI when going down the street. 20w-50 would be a good choice for you.

PS: I dont like "Castrol" brand motor oils. This is just a personal preference, but I use Valvoline or Mobil 1.

-Does anyone know why people rave about Lucas oil or is it just an additive to help the oil you already have in your car?

Lucas is an Excellent additive. I put some in my Ford Explorers transmission when something was sticking and it fixed it. They make formulas for oil, transmission, and power steering. It does do a good job protecting put if you went with the 20w50 I don't see a need for it. As long as you don't live in a cold climate that oil is fine. Now if you lived in New England or the Mid atlantic states I wouldn't advise it because it would take awhile to lubricate the entire engine cold. I always use a Half synthetic 10w30 in my 71 Monte carlo which has 161,000 miles and always starts up even when its 25 F out. Good Luck with your Nova. Looks like a nice one.
