Re: help finding black bowtie
It was easier to take out my Bowtie and get it painted than to buy a new one and hope it was the color I wanted.
Do it your self you will be happier.

Re: help finding black bowtie
yea, i was thinking i could just paint it myself... Did you just primer it and then put on a nice glossy black over it? I bought a chrome bowtie, but i changed my mind after seeing a black one on a truck... so now i have a chrome one to try to sell i guess. Im still waiting for my black chrome speed grille to come in, its been on back order for 2 months, once i get everything togeather ill post some pics. Only problem is i forgot how to do that!

Re: Re: help finding black bowtie
Where are you geting a black chrome grill?
I had some work done to the tailgate and the body shop did the bowtie for free, I think that really meant they gouged me a little less......

Re: help finding black bowtie
im gettin the grill through stylinconcepts...its a street scene speed grille, i ordered it in the begining of decemper, and the last time i called to check the status of it i was told that it was on back order and it wont be shipped for another month....i was a little mad, it was sapose to be on my truck my x-mas now it probly wont be here till the the end of feb.
Im sure i could paint it myself pretty good.... i dont see why a little sanding, primer, and a nice glossy black coat wont look good... or do you think i should take it to a paint place, cant cost too much, its very small.
hope you can figure out how to post up some pice, wish i could help, but i forget how..... do you have black projectors or just black diamond headlights?

Re: Re: Re: help finding black bowtie
Did you hook up those outside corner lights? Are they meant to be a constant on when that side turnsignal light is on like a Caddilac?

Re: help finding black bowtie
if your talkin about on the headlight, i dident hook them up, im thinking of hookin it up soon but it will be jumped off of the halo ring.I dont really want them blinking. I have white led's all along the bottom...drl's and turnsignals.... ill probly order another set of led's for the corners of the headlights. should look pretty nice.
Have you had any problems with your headlights actually lighting up the road? I bought some aftermarket bulbs from a performance shop but they only changed teh color tint and made it a little brighter...that was like 6 months ago, lastnight i bought some sylvanstar (poor spelling skills) bulbs from autozone. Ive heard good things about them. im hopeing they will help.

Re: Re: help finding black bowtie
Do you mean having to drive with the fog lights on so you can tell if the low beams are on?????
Do you mean driving in high beam as long as you can before the drive in front of you blasts you???
Tell me how the light change works as I am frustrated but want to keep the front face black, lights or looks?? I changed the DRL's with orange so all the lower front lights are now orange.
Did you have to have a special LED so the turnsignal does not go into "HYPER" mode?

Re: help finding black bowtie
i was talking about the low beams....the projector part, the light that comes out isnt that great, it dosent really light up the road, i was wondering if you had the same problem and if so, what did you do about it?. I dont have fog lights on my truck so i dont know what you are talking about their, i was just wondering if your low beams work that good or not?
in the daylight you cant see the led's in the lower lights except the drl's. Everything just looks black until you turn on the trunsignal. it looks sweet. its not really legal to have white turn signals, but i havent been stopped yet. I just had a problem with regular colored bulbs burning out every month so i bought white led's off e-bay. Yea, the turn signals are in "hyper"mode, but im too lazy to do the math to figure out what size resistors i will need to fix it.... once i rembere how to post up pics, ill show you how they look.

Re: Re: help finding black bowtie
Yea my comments are dirrected at the poor quality of the low beams. I have not taken the time to find a good replacement bulb yet so let me know how your mod works please. I resort to turning on my fog lights all the time because of the poor lighting.
I read on the back of the LED light package that they have a special bulb to get the correct amount of resistance.

Re: help finding black bowtie
oh..ok, gotch ya, scarcasm, i missed it..
yea, ite pretty easy to replace the low beam bulbs, juts take off the black mounthing thingy, all you do is take out all the screws, theis like 6. then pull off the rubber cover from the back of the low beam. unplug the little white wire and remove the 2 little screws from the back of the bulb. be careful not to drop the screws into the headlight, then your fucked. make sure you keep the one screw in the wire (you will know what im talkin about when you see it) When replacing the bulb, be very careful not to strip out the cheap molding that the bulb screws into. I did this on my first pair before i got the ones with the halo rings and i was shit out of luck.
I think the main reason we get bad lighting from them is because of the black surrounding. I wish they made a black pair with like a chrome bezzel around the low beam so the light reflected a little better. I saw headlights like this on a gmc yukon. seemed to work better.

Re: Re: help finding black bowtie
Look on the bright side, yea pun intended. There is such a small amount of reflective bezel that the local Speed taxing authority will have a hard time shooting lasar into the headdlight area and getting a report back on his gun. And then there is that problem again, looks, looks, and those good looking front ends...
Post or email me and let me know how much better the new lights work. Thanks
