K&N Filter Question for 94' 1500

I have a 1994 1500 with a rebuilt (5.7) engine and I want to know if a K&N would do anything at all to the gas milege or horse?

Re: K&N Filter Question for 94' 1500

I have a 93 k1500 with the 5.7L. I had it rebuilt and bored out .30 over. After the rebuild I put MagnaFlowcat-back dual exhaust on it. This improved the mileage ever so slightly and made for a nice sounding tone when I stomp on it. Then I added a Holley intake with a K&N filter. I think Holley discontinued there intake but it's very similar to the K&N ones. Anyways, this also improved my mpg...maybe 1.5 mpg total and I would imagine my HP is a little higher. Acceleration has definitely improved with the addition of exhaust and intake. Good luck

Re: K&N Filter Question for 94' 1500

I removed the whole stock intake and ran the big Holley intake tube to the front corner on the drivers side. Then I put on a K&N cone filter and built a bracket to keep it from resting on the fender.

The K&n Air Filter (alone Or With The Whole Kit) Will Give You Better Air Flow..then The Orignal Stock Air Assmembly...ive Got'n Better Gas Milage And More Power Out Of It....the Faster U Get Air In And Exhast Out= More Power.

i was talking about just the K&N air filter itself. I want to cut off the cat and I have a Flo-Pro muffler which is a knock-off of a flowmaster..so maybe those little mods would do something to power/mileage...

Yes. that is the simpelest answer to the original question. Profox02 put it the best:

The faster you get air in and exhaust out=more power
