4.8 vs 5.3

im going to buy a silverado 1999-2001 and was wondering wut are the pros and cons for each engine type...?

The 4.8 and 5.3 are real close to the same thing. Depending on your power goals in the long run that will determin which engine you want

There's no real cons to going with the 5.3L over the 4.8L. If you have a choice, go ahead and get the 5.3L. They have alittle more go than the 4.8L and take mods better. I loved my 4.8L, don't get me wrong, but I would have probably kept the 5.3L if it had came with it and just modded the hell out of it. Both engines are awesome and will give you plenty of get up and go. What are you wanting the truck for? That will pretty much determine what will best suit your needs.

Price might be a big advantage for the 4.8L. You could always pick up a high mileage 4.8L truck, and just replace it with a low mileage 6.0L. You'll be more than happy with it, trust me.
