Re: 2000 Blazer headlight replacement

Directly behind the headlamp, there are two retainers that slide down and lock the headlamps into place.
Remove the headlamp assembly retainers by pulling up and outward.
Disconnect the lamp electrical connectors.
Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle.
Push and rotate the bulb 1/4 turn counter-clockwise in order to remove the bulbs from the headlamp assembly.

also don't touch the bulbs with your fingers.

It will cause them to fail prematurely.

I looked everywhere behind the light and I don't see any retainers. I tried pulling the lights up and out but they won't budge an inch.

They are two plastic tabs. The are shaped like an "L" (but upside down) and about 6 inches long. You can't miss them as they are right behind the headlight between your air breather and the back of the headlight on the right and between the battery and back of headlight on the left (when looking into the engine compartment from the front). Just pull both of the "L's" up on each side..
