Tranny won't shift

Today my transmission on my '97 GTP started acting up. It would not shift into 3rd gear. I took it on highway and it would not go above 97 and it would hit the rev limiter. My question is whether or not it has adaptive shifting because before this happened I was manually shifting my car and I accidentally shifted into 3rd late and hit the rev limiter. Any help would be appreciated. I hope I hear some good news because I am not looking forward to the $2500 bill I may have to spend. Thanks in advance!

Re: Tranny won't shift

Anything is possible. I would take it to a shop and have them diagnose it. It could be that the 3rd gear shift solenoid has failed and will need to be replaced. No where near $2400 to repair. It also could be that third gear has gone south but unless you have someone check it on the computer you will not know for sure. I hope it is just the solenoid. I did the $2400 thing about 6 months ago.
Good Luck!
