98 1500 ext. cab 2wd lowering questions

I am looking to lower my truck and just looking for a little advice. I am gonnna purchase the belltech lowering kit from summit. It comes with, front spindles, rear hanger and shackles and the shocks. It is gonna be the 2/4 drop. Is there anything else I will need. I also wanted to know if it is hard to install on your own. I cant really find anyone around where I live to do it. They say that you have to take the bed off and notch out the frame. Just looking for a little advice. Thank you

no you do not have to take your bed off or notch your frame. the spindles and the shackles will be easy.. the hangers you will need something to grind off the factory hangers. should not be hard.

You would have to notch the frame (maybe) if you were going to bag it. But your not so you don't have to notch anything except the concrete once you lower it!

a 2/4 drop is NOT low enough to hit even the tallest speed bumps. i would know, i have a 5/7 drop and i have never scraped.

lowering

You may have some difficulty with the shackles and hangars. My hangars were riveted in place so I had to grind them down and use and air chisel to knock them out. The shackle bolts were so old that I had to torch the ends off and air chisel them out as well. I recommend to go for the flip kit and spindle/spring set up, its good for a 4/6 drop.
