Car Shakes on the Highway

Hi There, I have a 2003 Grand Am GT, when I travel at speeds at 100 km/hr on the highway the car starts to shake/vibrate. The steering wheel is what seems to shake the most. I was wonderingwhat could possibly be the cause of this vibration. I do have the low profile tires that came with car (Goodyears), could this be the causeof this problem or is there something that I should be more concerned about like a loose front end?
Any help or comments would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds to me like a alignment or wheel balancing issue but could also be a loose or damaged front suspension part. Good Luck.

Excuse my ignorance, but Im not the best at mechanical repairs when it comes to cars, but can an alignment fix such a vibration. It was vibrating quite good, but yet again our highwyas are not the best in my province. I heard that the low profile tires would cause such a vibration as well. But I know I should still get it checked out.

Yes, if the wheels aren't aligned correctly. They most certainly can cause vibration and low profile tires if balanced correctly should not cause vibration unless they have defect.

Amen to what Formula said. You're best bet would be to take it to a tire place and have em do a 4 wheel allignment / tire balance. They should be able to do that for about 75 US dollars. My Grand Am drove like shit all winter, and I had it realligned and it drove like a dream after that.
