whats up., I have a 96 neon sohc got intake, header, and dynomax 2.5in catback pipe with superturbo muffler. had it for almost a year no problems. now it dont pass inspection and is running really lean with a cel of 51. i think the problem is that theres no back pressure i replaced the sensors also and the cel still came on. how can i fix this problem? i think i need to flash the computer. does anyone know anybody who sells this flashing kit or anyway that i can fix this problem. i love how there was no warning about this exhaust system. did anyone else have this problem with no back pressure. this exhaust is huge for this car so why do they sell it as a exhaust system for a neon?

thats not excessivly large exhuast. your not running into backpressure issues. i would be more concerned with the condition of your cat, or your o2 sensors. both can cause what your seeing!

WHat the guy above said. You cant have a high flow cat and pass. You may not have one but just throwing that out there. It is like the guy above said your cat or your oxygen sensors. Good luck i have Echeck soon and im going to fail with flying colors.

Yea i was thinking that it might not be the exhaust. it might be a clogged fuel filter but im not sure. I think if it was the exhaust the car would of been screwed up right after i put it on. It might be the cat but im gonna have someone look at it and hopefully its not a backpressure problem. any advice will help thanx!

if you dont have any backpressure, the only issue would be a lack of low end torque. no harm to the vehicle.

yea thats true., i wonder if i get a new cat (would a hiflow cat increase performance?)and o2 sensors and change the plugs if the light would go off. another question is the fuel filter hard to replace?

i have read many reports that an performance exhuast on these cars doesnt improve performance so maybe the stock would be the better choice anyways im not the smartest though so a professional would be your best bet to go with

Guy above just a tip the neon responds best to exhuast mods. A high flow cat would help a lot. The neon has two problems that rob it for power drastically. One the intake manifold is plastic, small runners, and the runners are not smooth and even. Two Exhaust manifold and exhuast pipes are to restive. Get a Indy intake manifold and its good for at the very least 14hp at the wheels. Usual gains from the Indy intake manifold are 19-20hp at the wheels and I have two buddys that have done with the dyno to show.

if you get a highflow cat make sure that its marked as willl pass inspection and not an off road only. i would also test your downstream and upstream o2 sensors and make sure they havent kicked the bucket
