Help with 97 350 missing

I have a 97 Z71 with a vortec 350. It has just started missing. Checked the trouble codes and it said #2 cylinder misfiring. Changed spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor all with no change. It still missed. Did a compression check on #2 and had 170psi. Same with #1 cylinder. Cannot figure out my next place to check. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

Could be the injector on #2. Also make sure fuel pressure is good. Should be around 60 PSI at idle.

Has the fuel filter been replaced recently?

I had same type of problem on my 350. Turns out the spark plug wires were too close together and I was getting cross-firing. Brand new wires did not fix it. I seperated the wires and all was fine. Check to make sure you got good spark at that wire and that it's not shorting out or jumping somewhere.

Haha.. ya the only thing I noticed for #2 cylinder was the spark plug didn't look like it was burning as hot as the rest of the plugs. The rest of the plugs looked like they had burned clean. #2 plug still looked like there was a little residue from the fuel on it. I checked it and it had good spark.

Replace that plug and see if the problem clears up or stays. It might be as simple as a bad spark plug

Re: Help with 97 350 missing

I tried replacing all of the plugs and wires and cap and rotor. That hasn't changed it at all. Maybe it is an injector. I didn't realize that there was separate injectors for every cylinder on this model.

It turned out to be an injector. Thanks for the help.
