85 Jetta modifying

Here is the situation, My heater core blew and anit-freeze was pouring out my vents. Really funny actually, I was driving and then all of the sudden I couldnt see a thing. Steam and liquid pouring out everywhere.

So I have two jettas an 85 and a 88.
I was going to change the heater core from my parts 88 and put it into my 85, but then i came up with the idea of removing the heating system all together and turning this thing into a sort of rally car. I got the dash apart, but that freaking heating system is huge, I cant figure out how to get the stupid thing out of there.

The goal is to bypass the entire heating system with a continuos hose.
I want to rip out all of the interior and just have bare bones nessecities.

anyone got any ideas for me on how to get that heating system out of there please feel free to help me out.

Secondly does anyone know what kind of mods there is for the 1.8l 8v?
I want to upgrade to the 16v but they are scarce where I am.

I think you already have, but does anyone know what to do if your 85 jetta runs out of gas,put more gas and won't turn over crank, crank and more cranks.

eightyfive,
did you get your mod done?
if not, PM me.

mr.hjlm, if you ran her out of fuel, may have to prime the pump, or crack the banjo bolt fuel lines into the engine bay to force the fuel into the line.
