I've a '96 GA, 2 door with manual windows. My wife wants power windows installed. Anyone done this? Are the wires in the door for the power and switch? Thanks!

This can be done. I worked for a place when I was younger. We installed stereos, A/C, sunroofs and other accessories as well as power windows. That was back in the 80's and I know things have changed quite a bit. I would contact one of your local Pontiac dealers sometimes they will send cars out for add-on accessories they may be able to help. You could also look for a performance shop they may do that kind of install or know of some one. Good luck.

Howard, an alternate way to go~~~~~

Any salvage yards around your area, and are you a fair wrencher?

If so, go to one, find an AM with power windows, take of the interior panel, and look at it. Majority of power window motors are riveted to inner panel, requires drill-out and rebolt or ivet, but ya may be able to grab the full mechanism, interior panel, [with the armrest and switches factory installed, btw] and also get good idea of the wiring in the door.

Pull one of your own panels, and look for a loose plug, most GM's have full harness now, they there in case the power option is installed at factory.

L and R front plug, if there is a brown and dark blue, two wire plug for the motor, seen, then you have a need for more if ya want to stay factory.

Sounds straightforward; I've replaced track on a Mopar but not a Pontiac. Figured the motor would be riveted. I'm more concerned about the electrical hookup (don't want to run new wiring) and switch installation. Anyone know if switch can be added to the panel easily?

depends if either window will only be operated solo by its own switch, sans a master driver control.

I would think that if you have the plugs hanging, and they have power, a simple splice to a switch with an inline fuse would suffice.
