digital dash is completely outbulldogs27 02-11-2005, 08:31 AM I have a 92 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3 Liter V-6 Vortec Engine. I've been experiencing problems with my digital dash lights going out. Usually, when it goes out...it stays out for about 15 to 20 minutes..and comes back on. My gauges are reading normal, just the light going out. Yesterday, I was driving when I heard a tiny pop..and then the smell of "new plastic"...the smell went away after a few minutes. The dash was still on when that occurred. When I left from work that afternoon, the dash was completely dark. It hasn't come on since then. So in essence, I have 3 questions.... 1. Was the "pop" the cause of the blackout? 2. How do you fix it? 3. How much will it run me? rlith 02-11-2005, 10:34 AM Well, probably started with bad traces (that tends to happen) You can disassemble the cluster and use a magnifying glass to track the traces... If after resoldering and it doesn't work, your power supply is toast... You can send it to http://www.mrwhizard.com/ and they will fix it for 159.00.. bulldogs27 02-11-2005, 11:15 AM there was a guy that sold the particular part on ebay for like 70 bucks and someone posted that link on here once...is it something that you can simply unplug and plug in a new one...or does it require more work than that? rlith 02-11-2005, 11:29 AM requires hard soldering it in... And that's provided the power supply is actually bad... 1st step is actually checking the traces, including the power supply traces (It integrates into the board) savage8190 02-12-2005, 02:05 AM i would just send it off to mr whizard. He does a great job and offers a nice warrantee which is great cause these damn dashes go all the time. BlazerLT 02-12-2005, 02:09 AM Yea, get the rebuild off of ebay. The power supply probably popped. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
