Looking for advice on a car for my slightly elderly mother to drive. Most be highly dependable, mid/economy sized, rear-wheel drive, 4 door, automatic,GM car or wagon, basic equpped, easy to work on. I know we may have to go for an older model. Does anyone have any suggestions of what we can look for???

How old are you willing to go? GM hasn't made a midsize RWD car since 1988 (Olds Cutlass, Chevy Monte Carlo). I would recommend an early 90s Chevy Caprice, Cadillac Fleetwood, or Buick Roadmaster - Not really economical or midsized, but very easy to work on.

I'm even thinking about mid 80s. My dad's been a Chevy man all of his life. So maybe something with a v6 or I6. My hubby is a Ford person, so we're not real up on other types.

Thanks everybody. I've decided to go for a mid-80s Caprice V6.
