National Anthems
A couple of years ago there was talk of making the USA's Star Spangled Banner National Anthem something other than it is. They said at the time that the anthem was too military/violent in nature. They were talking about making " God Bless America" or " America the Beautiful" the national anthem.
Therefore my question is this.. If you had a choice to change your national anthem, would you? and what would replace it with?
Note: this thread is not only for USA members, this is for any member from any country.
Fire away folks..

There was similiar talk sometime ago in Ireland to change the national anthem from Amhán Na bhFiann (A Soldier's Song) to the song played at the start of Irish rugby games, Ireland's Call for the same reasons.
But theere is one problem, the Irish rugby team are a united Ireland team and it was felt the use of Amhán Na bhFiann was not fitting because the National Anthem was for the Republic of Ireland and not Northern Ireland. So hence the reason for the composing of Irelands Call.
To answer your question would I want to change to Irelands Call. No, I much prefer Amhán Na bhFiann 1. because it is in our native tongue 2. describes the history of Ireland much better then Irelands Call.
Amhán Na bhFiann (English Translation)
Soldiers are we,
whose lives are pledged to Ireland
Some have come from a land beyond the wave,
Some to be free,
no more our ancient sireland
Shall shelter the despot or the slave;
tonight we man the Bearna Baoghal
In Erin's cause.
come woe or weal;
'Mid cannon's roar and rifle's peal
We'll chant a soldier's song.
There is more to the cong but typically only the first verse is sung.
Irelands Call
Come the day and come the hour,
Come the power and the glory,
We have come to answer our country's call,
For the four proud Provinces of Ireland
Ireland, Ireland,
Together standing tall,
Shoulder to shoulder,
We'll answer Ireland's call
Ireland, Ireland,
Together standing tall,
Shoulder to shoulder,
We'll answer Ireland's call

Too violent? How? I think the one we have is just fine. Imagine the up-roar if we changed it to "God Bless America".

I think it should be more peppy. Brazil and Italy's anthems are quite peppy. Ours is kind of slow, and if it weren't for all those bombs bursting in it, it'd also be pretty boring.

Re: National Anthems
I think America the Beautiful is better; but traditionalists will want to stick with what we've got already, and I think Texas underestimates the uproar that there would be if someone merely suggested that the word "God" appear in the national anthem.
Not to mention that the military bands would struggle with the new tunes for quite awhile....
