Hello Members,
I am newbie to this sight and this question about h22ing a civic/del sol has come up more than once I see but I do have questions about it too and I would appreciate it if anyone can help me. I am going to be doing an H22 swap in my civic this summer and I am collecting parts now. For this to be done, I know I need new motor mounts and axles and that is no problem for me to get but what about linkage cables? I know for a lot of the B-series swaps you would need new cables... I have assumed that you don't need new ones due to the fact that I cannot find the cables for the swap online... but I am not sure. I have an F22 tranny and wanted to know if it will 100% work on an H22? --->I want to clean it out thoroughly which means taking it apart and would need to get a new gasket... Do you know any places online that would sell those for affordable prices??<--- For the swap, I have to get rid of the power steering (unless I do some cutting??) and I don't have ac so I don't need to worry about that right? The stock wiring harness will work right? ( my car is an ex so it has the 1.6L V-tec which you all know) And I know I need the H22 ecu of course... What else will need to be done or bought?

Thank you for you time guys,
Murphey2012

P.S. Am I on the right track so far?

I know you can use the F22 tranny, but I'm not sure what kind of shiftlinkage comes with that (cable or not). I'm sure there's got to be someone who can help you out with that, maybe signal :D
But if you were using the h22a tranny you can use the shiftlinkage cables from that for the swap. For power steering, you'd need a '97+ PS pump and bracket as well as a high pressure line with 1 end for the prelude part and 1 end for the civic part. You could use your existing engine harness, but you'll need to modify it to work, as well as wire up a resistor pack for your injectors.
Check out this thread here, look at the ecu pinout for the h22a ecu as well as the b16a pinout a few threads down and compare them: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=332296
I tried to get the wiring as accurate as possible, but I'd recommend checking out the changes yourself (because I'd feel bad if someone did the wiring I wrote and it turned out wrong and the motor wouldn't start).

The EFI Splicing is going to be Hellish...

I would serious... Seriously, suggest jumping on www.Honda-Tech.com and read through some of their past threads on this topic.

One of my acquantences swapped an H22 into his '97 Accord. The mechanics went fine. But now they have 9 wires that they cant figure out where they go. So they sent it to a local Honda performance shop (this place knows their shit) and they're having trouble figuring it out.

So my suggestion to you would be, research this to DEATH before you even start buying parts. Because it may be something you want to avoid.

... But if your like me, you'd rather fail attempting, then have never attempted at all :D

Yes, an f22 tranny will work, and yes it is a cable tranny. F22, F23, H22, H23 trannies are all cable; all bellhousings being the same; so any of those trannies and motors will bolt up directly, since there was never a change in the linkage between generations (unlike the b-series)

I know this doesn't directly pertain to you, since you already have an F22 tranny, but i'll post it anyway for anyone that needs it as a future reference. All of the following car's have cable trannies and identical bell housings, and will directly bolt onto any F or H series motors (excluding F20C/F22C)

90-02 Accord (4 Cyl)
92-01 Prelude
97-99 Acura CL (4 Cyl)

and as for the gasket, I would check www.hondaautomotiveparts.com - they sell every Honda OEM part (brand new) you can imagine; down to the cup holders and floor mats.
