KLZE questionsBiG FaT BiLLa 02-07-2005, 11:09 PM hi im new to the forums and ive been trying to find an answer to this question for quite some time now i own a 94 Probe Gt and ive been wanting to do a motor swap with a KLZE... my question starts with can i even get a KLZE in the us??? people have told me that the mazda mx-6 and 626 have the KL03 in them which only has 164hp compared to the klze's 192???????? and if they arent available in the US how would i go about getting myself one because ive been considering this swap for about a year now and want to go through with it. another couple quick questions roughly how much will it cost to do the swap and does everything in a stock probe match up with a klze? trans? ecu? etc... thanks for any input anyone may have!!!!!!!!!! :grinno: :grinno: a1waytrip 02-07-2005, 11:57 PM hey i was thinking about doing the swap to, the klze gives you 200 hp, and you are going to need the j-spec ecu for the most hp. it should line up with everything else. the ecu's are kindof hard to find though. there are alot of the engines out there, but hardly anyone sells the ecu. only ones i have found have been off ebay. i found these people selling the engines for fairly cheap they are in california, i think aleghorn@speedlinegroup.com that is there e-mail. the engine should be about 800, and the ecu is around 200 usually. i don't know if you are doing the work your self or not, but if you are not, you should get a quote from a good mechanic, who has experience in engine swap's. good luck man, i don't think im going to follow through with the swap cause im looking into a toyota mr2. -tom a1waytrip 02-07-2005, 11:59 PM http://img36.exs.cx/img36/6718/warehouse1.jpg here is a pic of the engine's, to me it looks like they are a good buisness, they will give you a 6 month waranty. good luck man! BiG FaT BiLLa 02-10-2005, 03:32 PM thanks for the advice and help :) im planning on doing the swap myself my friend has done quite a few motor swaps and is going to help me through it, thanks and good luck with that mr2!!!! Ghostcloak 02-10-2005, 09:08 PM Here's a random question I can't find anywhere... Does the KLZE have an Interference or NON-Interference motor? GT_SPD 02-22-2005, 04:00 PM A KL-ZE is a good engine, however it is only worth it if you are not doing enything else to the car and of you blew your engine, now for the purpose more power, keep the same engine, maybe get a ZE IM (intake manifold) and bore the TB(throtle body) which will give the car more/better air delivery increasing your car and get a car on a dyno so that some can reprogram your stock ECU to get a lot more out of the engine with added performance upgrades and such. But for serious person I would also add sleeves, porting, rods, pistons, fuel delivery and NOS, with proper tuning 500hp will be in sight as well as the idea that 250 NA + 250 NOS is safer, yet reliable for a daily driver... a1waytrip 02-24-2005, 01:22 AM 250 nos? damn, that's alot, i diddn't know nitrous could give you 250 hp. that's crazy, anyway, why wouldn't the klze be a good upgrade engine? don't they have like reinforced rods or something, or am i just on the wrong engine, lol. i may be thinking of 3kgt's. -tom Ghostcloak 02-24-2005, 01:41 AM 250 nos? damn, that's alot, i diddn't know nitrous could give you 250 hp. that's crazy, anyway, why wouldn't the klze be a good upgrade engine? don't they have like reinforced rods or something, or am i just on the wrong engine, lol. i may be thinking of 3kgt's. -tom Depending on the nozzle you install, you can have nos deliver anywhere from a 50 hp gain to over 300hp... just depends on the injector setup and what your engine can take (ie: 2000 Chevy Camaro SS can take up to a 150hp nos boost nozzle without risking blowing the motor...) Well, from what I've been hearing other people tell me, the compression (10:1 or 11:1, can't remember exactly) is already really high... Trying to "tweak" or upgrade the engine may cause serious overheating, cracking the block, or bending valves, or something else. However, I would also think that even with this high compression, the engine is built really tough and could take a small increase... Taking the KLZE above the 550 hp line is dangerous as the compression is too high... That's what I was told.. and having a compression ratio of 13:1 is pretty damn high.... So by itself the engine is great... mods like ram air or cold air-intake and other mods should be implimented to improve performance without having to put a strain on the block... if that makes sense... but nos and twin turbos on a klze? You might wanna get ready to buy another engine for backup... shawnwilliams 02-28-2005, 05:40 PM www.japandomesticmotor.com sells the klze 210hp for 800 us and comes with everything u need.
