Seat Belt Buckle (Tang) holder button.

I have been calling Dealerships, Stealerships for a good reason. On my 2000 Jimmy SLE, there is a little plastic button that holds the seat belt tang onto the seatbelt and prevents the metal tang from sliding all the way to the floor. Well, I busted one off installing a child's Car Seat in the back seat.

I stopped in to see about a replacement button at my local Stealer, only to find out that they wanted $17.00 USD for a new button, and then it wasn't even the right type of button. The one they tried to sell me looked like more of an upholstery button with a big nail on one side and a clasp on the back side. $17.00 for a piece of plastic that is approx. 1/2 inch in diameter! They also quickly offered to sell me an complete new seat belt. I had to leave.

Anyone have a website that might have one of these things?

I don't know of any sites offering the button/stop, but I'm thinking a salvage yard might be your best bet. You'll probably have to but the whole unit, just as the stealer/dealer offers.

It's quite typical of a dealer to replace the whole unit nowadays instead of replacing the $0.05 part, and the seat belt unit is a complete assembly, not repairable in their books. (safety issue- the button does pierce a hole in the belt webbing, potentially compromising the belt)

LOL!

I went through this too.

I bought it and a week later it fell off again.

Best to buy one of those seatbelt holders clamps to keep the tang up high.

That is what I used and it works flawlessly.

Thanks BlazerLT, I'll see what I can find at the Local Autozone.
