96 Blazer rear window

I am having a problem with the rear window in my 96 Blazer. It decides to unlatch if I put my truck in reverse, park or open the electric locks. The interior push button latch is useless now and won't even work.

I just want to thank all of you for all your help - I was driving today with my little one - turned on the heat and a BIG smoke bomb came out from underneath her feet !! It stunck like anti-freeze and brown gook ran onto the passenger floor. I have read up on the questions regarding this and I have come to the obvious conclusion that yes - indeed I need a new heater core. Any other advise on this would be greatly appreciated!

Re: 96 Blazer rear window

This is approx. a 2-3 hour job to Remove and replace thge Heater core "IF" you have the right tools and "IF" you know what your doing. I wouldn't recommend this for a newbie. I suggest you find a reputable garage.

In the meantime, you can buy a little plastic adapter at Autozone that will basically allow you to remove the two heater hoses from the fittings and connect them together. They are normally two different sizes of heater hose (3/4 inch and 5/8 inch hoses). This will adapter allow you to drive the truck, but obviously, you will not have any heat until you get the core replaced. Don't forget to top off the radiator once (if) you've spliced the hoses together.

Unless you have moderate mechanical ability I would recommend a shop to replace the core. If you're thinking of doing it yourself, spend the $17 and buy a Haynes manual it will give you step by step instructions. If your anti-freeze is brown and nasty you need to flush the system and refill with it fresh, You will also need to replace the radiator cap with a Stant brand cap.

Ok, mine was a bad switch for the tailgate lock. I disconnected the lock assembly and now it doesn't do it anymore... PLUS..we just sold the car... all gone!
