Driver's side door on 64 Beetle does not lock from the inside. Is there a mod kit to change this? Where can I get one?

The door should lock when you push the latch release handle forward.

Thanks for the reply. The passenger side does operate as you said. But not the driver's side.l I took off the door panel and the mechanism is fashioned such that the inside handle will not push forward to lock. The mechanism is different from that on the passenger side. Must be a "special order" job. Dosen't even look like something I could easily modify.

It's been too long since I had one to remember, but mine worked that way. I believe the critical operation is in the latch mechanism not the handle. I think someone may have swapped a later model latch unit into your door.
