Sadly, I have no idea what that means. But congrats, sounds like a good deal!

A posi rear spins both wheel at the same time vs spinning only one on a typical rear end.

Is your truck 4wd ??? if so DO NOT engauge the 4wd with 2 differant gear ratios front and rear or you will eat the transfer case

How do you know if you have a posi rear? Sounds like it would be a good thing to have.

LOL, I'm very well aware of 4wd...(Yes, I have 4wd) I run a 3:42 peg leg right now with stock drums. The new rear I bought is 3:42 with posi and Disc brakes, there shant be a problem...:D :icon16:

Nope... Unless you have the G80 RPO code, you only have a pegleg. GU* codes show your ratio...

Mine has the G80...so that means it's posi? What ratio is GU6?

rlith

If you have G80, yes, it's posi, gu6=3:42 ratio.... If you want to decode ALL your RPO codes, go to http://www.s10forum.com/rpo/

They have a nifty little rpo decoder.

Dig it... (granted, it's muddy and has some surface rust, easily taken care of!) Already have new discs and pads ready to go on..

I thought factory skids plates meant it had one wheel peel.

All the sites I'm seeing while searching say G80 is limited slip

Skid plates are standard on all of our trucks..Except the zr2 which have skid plates running all the way to the back.

Limited slip is POSI...
G80 AXLE POSITRACTION , LIMITED SLIP

Mine has them all the way to back. I thought that was part of the offroad package. I've heard that the ones with the off road package are one wheel peel.

Just to make it clear...I'm not disputing you I'm just curious. Also were roll bars put in by the factory or is mine an aftermarket.

I have been searching many sites....and what I heard is wrong. Mine does have the offroad package and G80 is a locking diff. So that means that the offroad package doesn't automatically mean you have one wheel peel.

My current one already as a rear sway bar...I got it from a local wrecking yard...(I know the guy)

so if you have disc brakes on the rear on a 4-wheel drive (my 98 LT) do I have what you just got?

rlith

No, read the thread... You have to have the G80 rpo code to have posi... Posi was an option on the s10/blazers/jimmy's/sonoma'a and was standard on the Bravada and the ZR2. (Zr2 also uses 8" rear that's 3" wider)

That's a sweet upgrade! Posi and disc brakes -- do you figure that you'll gain some stopping power by replacing the drums w/discs?

rlith

It should definatly help... I hate drums, lol.

I tried to see what my RPO's were and it said unknown on all but two. How do I find out what the rest are? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you didn't enter them correctly.

Sounds like you didn't enter them correctly.

They allow three letters/numbers in each box so that is what I did. Do some of them only require two? I would like to know whaat I did wrong so I can go back and do it right.

each rpo code is three digits, you enter one code per box. your codes are on the sticker in the glovebox

GT* codes also show your ratio. My 02 4X4 blazer has,

G80 Axle Positraction Limited ,Slip and
GT4 Axle Rear 3.73 Ratio (Dup with 5X1)

Does anyone know what (Dup with 5X1) means?
