I have a 98 with a 3.8L engine if that matters. And is it the same transmission as in a 99? Thanks

This table has been posted in Cartrackers in the past when that forum worked. Keep in mind that Ford still stamped AXOD on the transmission pans on later models, my 2000 with the AX4S still has AXOD on the pan.

1995 - 1997 = AXOD
1998 - 2000 = AX4S
2001 - 2003 = AX4N

ahhh okay. So why do they stamp it with one name when that isn't even what is in there?

My new mechanic has a 99 tranny he is going to try out in my van but I didn't know if it was compatible. Thanks for the info.
