diesel???

just wondering why my 95 sounds like a diesel engine? it has that rattling sound like the TDI jetta's....what is this? anyone know...just went through a faulty oil pressure sensor (that was easy at least)....this car has 240,000 kms on it...thanks

have you changed oil regularly? Sounds like bad valve-rattle. Try an engine flush, see if that frees up the vlave-system.

Oh, one thing I've tried that has worked for me is CD-2 valve treatment, add to oil, it does help.

Engine flushing might be required. Knifeblade's suggested additive may be ok. The one I use for my car is by the company Formula 1. And put an oil additive, to give more lubrication, and possibly cleaning while you drive. The one I suggest would be from the company Lucas. I'm sure they have a website, but I don't know what it is. But you can run a search in yahoo by the words: Lucas Oil Additives.

And oh yea, one more thing:

Have you checked your exhaust at the back? Maybe it's completely rusted out (if you're living in cold climates. If not, then that might not be it. But in any check to see for any leaks in the exhaust system).

just wanted to say thanks! tried the oil additive and it shut right up! planning on flushing the engine shortly...garage is to damn cold right now!
