89 s-10 4.3 no start

my buddy just redid the head gaskets, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, timing chain. now the truck doesn't start. i checked over his work everything looks right, when trying to start..........looking at the distribator from the front of the truck turn clockwise #1 at 7 o'clock pops flames through tbi, turn counter clockwise #1 between 12 & 1 wants to fire with starter fluid but without it, but wont start and idle. also he has a new fuel tank, sending unit, fuel filter, and hi vol fuel pump.

any ideas as to the problem would be great.....as i'm lost for ideas at this point

timing is off.

Did you remove the timing wire from the PCM when you timed the vehicle with a timing gun?

My guess is that the istributer is installed the wrong way. He might have to take it out, and flip the router 180 degrees

are you sure you have the correct fireing order? should
be 1,6,5,4,3,2. check your timing again, like LT said
make sure you dissconect the brown wire from your PCM, should find it pass. side under glovebox. if that dont work try to fpip distritor around.

89 s-10 no start is now running

1. the timing was ok on the chain
2. the wire was unhooked
3. timing at the cap was 180 off
4. the battery was to weak
5. the coil wasn't holding a charge
6. plug wires were junk

after checking here for ideas and a lot of hours having to remove parts to have them tested and putting them back in the truck fired right up with a touch of starting fluid on the third try.

thanks for all the idea's and help guy's
